Happy New Year! If we are friends on Facebook you may already know that we had a very kid-friendly celebration at home ;)
Here are some pictures from our evening.
Party Bath!! I found this idea on Pinterest and loved it! Use a drop or two of food coloring to make your water a pretty color (this will not dye skin) and fill the tub with little trinkets. Here I decided to use New Year necklaces and Glow Sticks.
I taped up a $1 plastic tablecloth to make a "Balloon Drop". I can't wait to re-create this for a birthday!
My Glow Sticks decided to leak when I snapped them. . . so I had to come up with something else fun, and fast! I used an empty egg carton, filled it with shaving cream and added a drop of food coloring. I threw in some paintbrushes and it ended up being way more fun than Glow sticks!!
This picture is a little blurry, but I think it captures the excitement of the balloon drop!
Some of our homemade decorations. Along with Sparkling White Grape Juice and something for the adults after the kids went to bed!
Our New Year sign that the girls and I made together
We don't normally buy many prepackaged food items if it isn't organic, but who doesn't want some junk food for a celebration?! So I tried to clean it up where I could. . . homemade ranch dip for our breaded pickles, Natural Cheetos (the only ones we buy anyway), GMO-free Kettle chips, Grapes on Sparkly skewers, cut block cheese, and there was nothing I could do to make pizza rolls any healthier so there you have it!
I knew the Balloon Drop would be a hit so I set up a second one for our countdown in the living room!
Our celebration wouldn't be complete without a fun project! We all decorated this glass jar that I got for 50% off at Hobby Lobby.
Every time something good happens in 2014 we will write it down and toss it in the jar. Next New Year's Eve we will all sit down and read all the awesome things that happened this year!
Here is our jar already filling up! I hope we can barely fit another square by 2015 ;)
I really do enjoy making the most of holidays with the girls. . . which usually includes some type of themed outfit. I just can't help it. I LOVE getting personalized iron-on transfers from Kristin at, Kids Sweet Tees. She is always willing to change colors around for me and sends the digital files over really quick! She has something for every occasion!
We wanted to do something special with the girls for New Years Day. (after the countdown is done it gets a little boring!!) Even though the girls don't completely understand making New Year's Resolutions, they could still watch and help us make goals for the New Year. Instead of making lengthy goals, we decided to choose "resolution words" that were important to us as a family for the new year. Mommy would write out the word and everyone had fun coloring them in! Everyone loved it so much we had to keep coming up with new words! Later we cut out the words and glued them to a poster board so we can be reminded of not only our resolutions, but our fun morning spent as a family (a handful of our words included: Family, Run, Thrive, Give, Memories, Learn).
To top off the day, we gave our girls the gift of our time. If you missed the post about our Monthly "Dates" check it out here. (New Year, New Plan). As of yesterday, our January date has already happened. Check back to see what we did :)
