Pizza Night!

It's true.  We have a lot of pizza nights.  Lately it's been once or twice a week!  Here are a few reasons why we have been having a lot of pizza nights:

1)  It costs MAYBE $4.10 per pizza.  Depending on which frozen pizza you buy at the store this is either barely more than you spend or possibly LESS than you spend for a frozen pizza!  MINUS all of those nasty chemicals!

2) Fresh ALWAYS tastes better!  We could probably do a little better with our pizza dough and make our own . . . lately I've been using Joe Caputo's dough with minimal ingredients.  Tonight's pizzas were made with freshly shredded Sharp Cheddar and Parmesan Cheeses.  If you are using already shredded (I am trying to give this convenience up!)  you are probably eating powdered cellulose added to prevent caking, and natamycin (a natural mold inhibitor).
A homemade pizza is the perfect chance to add LOTS of vegetables.  We enjoy organic spinach and Dole Pineapple (in its own juice not syrup) on ours.  And when we have it, fresh Basil from the garden.   We have been using Emril's homestyle Marinara sauce.  One jar makes 4 pizzas!

3)  The kids have so much fun helping to make dinner!  Is it more work and dishes?  YES.  But they enjoy rolling the dough and adding the ingredients so much that it's well worth it.  Plus, when they help make it they want to eat it that much more.  Our 4 year old, The Princess, used to complain about spinach on her pizza but now that she gets to put it on she ASKS for it!
