Last year we decided to make a Thankfulness Tree. (pictured below) I had enough leaves for each day of November and everyday the three of us would write what we were thankful for. (We just said out loud what we thought Hammie was thankful for because she was so little) Everyone had such a great time filling it in that it was a requested project this year. New tradition? I think so!
Each year I have sloppily tried to draw a tree. . . the girls seem to know what it is so that's all that matters! (Plus you get to cover it up with lots of leaves!) This year I decided to make enough leaves for everyone to have their own leaf each day. We even added some little birds this year, I think it makes the tree really fun! Check out #4 on this cute Blog to find the leaf/bird templates
The girls had so much fun hanging up their leaves and birds. We put blue sticky tac on the backs so that we can take them down to write our "Thanks" and then hang them back up. There are 120 leaves/birds and the girls put all of them up! I couldn't keep up with the sticky tac!
Our completed tree! I'm really glad I let the girls put everything up however they wanted. They are very proud of their tree which makes it even more fun for them this year. And though we always make it a point to be Thankful for what we have, it's always amazing to see (in a visual aid) how blessed we are. 2013 was a really rough year for us, but we always counted our blessings, held on to each other a little tighter, and as things start to turn around for us at the end of this year we really need more than one tree to express how truly BLESSED we are.
I found this adorable leaf garland on Pinterest and couldn't wait to try it out! Next year, I am going to make more for sure!
Happy November!
