Family Files #1

This is for our friends that enjoy seeing what we have been up to not only with our attempt at healthy living but our day to day life..  A lot of our Mommy friends enjoy getting some fresh ideas for their families and hopefully you find something helpful or at least entertaining.  This is post number one in hopefully a series of Family File posts.  While we haven't been up to too much this is what we have been up to:

We have been searching for a safe, natural toothpaste.  We had some luck with us at Trader Joe's.  For the girls we still cannot find anything we are happy with.  HOWEVER,  Honest (no, I never stop talking about this awesome company that has changed our lives!) has finally come out with adult and children's toothpaste and I will let you know how it is when my July order gets here! So excited!

A day of fun!  We, very occasionally, will set out to do one small thing with the girls (in this case, going to a Splash Pad) and we just keep the day going!  On this day we went to the Splash Pad, played at the park, got Frozen Yogurt, and picked up a couple of books from the bookstore!  It was an outing that everyone needed.  A day of family fun, no schedule!

Summer reading has been fun this year!  Both girls got to sign up for it and we go once a week to the library to switch out our stack of books.  We almost wish it was year round since the girls love getting prizes for the normal amount of reading we do anyway.  Although I will be glad to be done writing it all down!

This past month we switched to The Honest Company diapers and wipes for Grace.  Watch for a new post soon for how they worked out for us!  Whether they work well or not, they DO look cute in our living room :)

The Princess enjoying the ice cream cone she earned from practicing her violin!  The next prize she is saving her stickers for is a trip to the movie theater!  It will only be her second time at the movies ever!  The first time she fell asleep, does that count?! ;)

One of our favorite family activities we do are Pajama Surprise Nights.  I almost never plan these ahead of time.  Maybe once a month (or less)  after dinner, about an hour before bed,  I will think of a little fun thing we can go do with the girls.   We usually don't tell them anything until we are getting their pajamas on.  Once they are ready for bed we tell them it's a pajama surprise night and to go get their shoes!!  They both get super excited and The Princess starts guessing what we get to do, but we usually won't tell them until we are on our way or until we get there!  These nights are inexpensive or free and the memories are priceless.  In the past we have done a trip to the library, out for ice cream, and to the park.  On this night (below)  we went to Nana and Pa's house to play on the trampoline that the girls didn't know had been put up that day.  (Hammie's first time on the trampoline and she LOVED it!)

I am always looking for new ways to organize.  Especially the toys!  We get these awesome containers with our girls' organic animal crackers and I've finally found something to do with them!  All of their little figures (that we find everywhere) fit perfectly!  Into the toy closet they go!

The Princess has been very interested in reading this Summer so I found this fun little DIY game to play with her (and it cost nothing!)  We call it Candy Store and you can find out how to make your own by following the link.

Hope you enjoyed our Family Files!
