Upcycled Patio Garden

We searched Pinterest for a garden solution.  I did not inherit my mother's green thumb, we have a tiny patio, a large "dig-happy" golden retriever, and a budget of as close to nothing as we could get.  According to Pinterest, a raised garden would take care of the tiny patio problem and maybe a portion of my lack of green thumb problem.

There are all kinds of fancy raised gardens you can buy online, but luckily we had two old pallets sitting in our garage.  The pallets themselves made for shallow gardens.  So after a trip to The Home Depot,  $11 in wood later (which they cut for us), my husband finished our raised garden beds!  According to the articles we read a raised vegetable garden should be at minimum, six inches deep.

The picture above was the beginning stages of our garden.  We now have planted: Tomatoes, Cherry Tomatoes, Sweet Bell Peppers, Jalepeῆo peppers, Basil, Cilantro, Mint, Lemon Balm, Lavender, three types of Lettuce, and Spinach.

We are still trying to fix the last problem. . . Exhibit A:

Thanks to our dog I have also RE-planted peas and our pepper plant.

UPDATE***  A fence solved our dog problem!
